Lawrence (1978) used a combination of column chromatography, preparative and analytical GC and infrared spectroscopy to analyze the oils from three different strains of Menta citrata. The compounds identified in the oils were:

Kubeczka (1993) compared the chemical compositions of peppermint oil produced from two different regions in the United States with the composition of an oil noted as Mitcham oil (origin unknown). His results are shown in Table VI.
